Living An Unspotted Life

KEY VERSES

“In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth…”
James 1:18, NASB

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
James 1:19-21, NASB

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city. Proverbs 16:32, NASB

If you talk a lot, you are sure to sin; if you are wise, you will keep quiet.
Proverbs 10:19, NCV

Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
James 1:21, NASB

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:22-24, NASB

But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:25, NASB

CENTRAL IDEAS

The book of James teaches us that we:

1) must receive the Word,
2) repeatedly practice the Word, and
3) portray the Word.

We are there by God’s appointment, under His care, in His training, and at His time.

Hunger for the Word is a clear manifestation of someone who wants to know God. If we do a lot of talking, we will have difficulty in listening to God’s Word.

A growing Christian is to possess an attitude of keeping his/her ears open to God’s Word.

The Bible teaches that when a person puts their trust in Jesus Christ, God gives the person a new life within.

The Word of God is no longer simply something outside of us. It is implanted into us.
