5 Questions to Ask Yourself When Life Gives You Lemons

By Evan Page

We’ve all heard the expression, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” But here’s my question for you: Are you doing that?! This is a crazy time we live in, but it doesn’t have to be all bad. Below are five questions you can ask yourself (or your family) on a regular basis to help you to pursue purpose and stay engaged while adjusting to limited social interactions and a “new normal.”

5 Questions to Ask Yourself When Life Gives You Lemons | LowCountry Community Church | Bluffton, S.C.

1.     What is one thing I am grateful for today?

2.     What expectation of “normal” can I let go of, and how can I reframe my expectations for this season?

3.     Who can I reach out to, or how can I connect with someone today?

4.     How can I stay active mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually today?

5.     What am I learning right now, and how am I growing in my current situation?

You can even add to or rephrase these questions. I encourage you to sit down, grab a pen and write something down that may be more specific to you. Maybe you want to be more intentional interacting with your children or maybe you would like to write questions that are focused on your current job situation. Whatever it is, I think taking time to engage your brain mentally can help maintain purpose in a season of unknown and uncomfortable. Life is all about perspective, and as for me, making lemonade seems a lot better than just eating lemons plain!
