If You’re Willing: Desperate Faith and a Willing Savior
by Pastor Anthony Lucarini
Have you ever felt desperate for a breakthrough? In Luke 5, we encounter a powerful story of a man with leprosy who dares to believe that Jesus can change everything. His story reveals how life can be transformed when you approach Jesus with faith, humility, and a heart that’s ready to ask.
Leprosy in biblical times was more than a physical illness. It brought shame, isolation, and rejection. But this man refused to let those barriers stop him. Instead, he took three bold steps that still apply to us today.
1. He looked for Jesus.
The first thing the man did was see Jesus. That might seem simple, but in a world filled with distractions, seeing Jesus requires focus. When we eliminate the noise and pay attention, we position ourselves to encounter God’s presence.
2. He humbled himself.
He didn’t just come to Jesus—he fell on his face. This act of humility was intentional. He recognized his need and Jesus’ authority. When we lower ourselves and take a posture of surrender, we make room for God to move powerfully in our lives.
3. He asked with bold faith.
“Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” This simple prayer is packed with faith. He didn’t just hope; he believed. Scripture tells us to ask, seek, and knock. There is power in asking God with confidence and trust.
Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached out, touched the man, and said, “I am willing. Be cleansed.” With just one word and one touch, the man was healed—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
What Happens When You Bring Desperate Faith to a Willing Savior?
This story is a reminder that Jesus is still healing, still restoring, and still willing. The same Savior who responded with compassion then is the same today.
Jesus is not distant. He is willing to meet you with healing, hope, and wholeness. All He’s waiting for is your yes. Jesus is alive. He’s still healing hearts, restoring hope, and making all things new.
The question isn’t whether He’s willing. The question is—are you?
Are you willing to look up from the chaos and see Him?
Are you willing to surrender your pride and take a posture of humility?
Are you willing to ask boldly and believe?
Because when you are, Jesus is more than willing to meet you there.
