It’s Your Turn: Stepping Into the Mission God Has for You

Have you ever felt like you were on the sidelines in life—watching, cheering, supporting—but not actually in the action? Jesus’ disciples knew that feeling. They had seen His miracles, listened to His teaching, and followed His ministry closely, but they weren’t yet carrying the weight themselves.

That changes in Luke 9:1–2:

“He called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing.”

In that moment, Jesus handed them the ball. Their role shifted from spectators to participants. Their mission? Proclaim the Kingdom of God and bring healing.

What Mission Did Jesus Give?

Jesus didn’t just tell the disciples what to do; He showed them how to do it. He told them to travel light—no bag, no bread, no money—because the mission required urgency, clarity, and dependence on God.

Why travel light?

  1. Pace matters. The message needed to spread quickly.

  2. Clarity matters. They weren’t selling something; they were sharing salvation.

  3. Dependency matters. This mission wasn’t fueled by resources but by God’s power.

What distractions might you need to lay down so you can clearly carry the hope of Jesus?

How Do We Carry the Momentum?

The disciples took their mission seriously, and the ripple effect reached even political leaders. The message of Jesus was unstoppable.

Today, that same invitation is extended to us. We are called into the Great Commission—not to sit on the sidelines but to step boldly into the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

What’s holding you back? Fear of rejection? Feeling unqualified? Worry about being imperfect? The truth is, God chooses to use ordinary people with extraordinary faith. The same Spirit that empowered the disciples empowers you.

So let me ask: Are you ready to proclaim hope, bring healing, and carry momentum into your family, workplace, and community?

It’s your turn.
