Are You Preparing for a Miracle?

The story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 is one of the most remarkable miracles recorded in Scripture. In fact, it’s the only miracle found in all four gospels. Bible scholars tell us that once women and children were counted, the crowd could have been closer to 15,000–20,000 people. And everyone witnessed it.

So here’s the question: How do you prepare for a miracle?

Most of us don’t expect one until life presses us to the edge. Maybe you need a financial miracle this week. Maybe it’s healing in your body or peace in a relationship. The feeding of the 5,000 offers four essentials we can apply whenever we’re desperate for God’s intervention.

Admit Your Need

The disciples were hesitant to face the problem. They delayed, worried, and even suggested sending the crowd away. Don’t we do the same? We procrastinate, blame, or stress. But God doesn’t move until we come honestly and say, “Lord, I need Your help.” What area of your life do you need to stop pretending is fine and finally bring before Him?

Assess What You Have

When Jesus asked what food was available, the disciples found five loaves and two fish. Not nearly enough for thousands, but it was a start. God always begins with what you already have in your hands. What time, resources, or abilities has He entrusted to you that you’ve overlooked?

Give God What You Have

A young boy stepped forward and offered his small lunch. It wasn’t about the size of his gift but the willingness to give it. Could it be that the little you’ve been holding onto is exactly what God wants to multiply? What step of surrender is He nudging you to take today?

Expect Him to Multiply It

Everyone ate until they were satisfied—and twelve baskets of leftovers remained. That’s who Jesus is. He doesn’t just meet the need, He abundantly exceeds it. Where in your life do you need to trust Him for more than enough?

This miracle reminds us that God is not limited by our resources or circumstances. He asks us to come with open hands, honest hearts, and expectant faith. So let me ask you: What need are you holding back from Him? What little offering could you place in His hands? And will you trust Him to take it, bless it, and multiply it beyond anything you can imagine?

Because the greatest miracle is not what we can do, but what God does when we finally let go and give Him everything.
