How to Handle Doubt and Stay Rooted in Truth
Have you ever asked, “God, are You really there?” Or maybe, “Jesus, are You really who You say You are?” If so, you’re not alone. Even John the Baptist, the bold desert prophet who baptized Jesus, wrestled with doubt. In Luke 7:18-35, we find John sending messengers to ask Jesus, “Are You the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
This raw moment isn’t just about John's uncertainty. It’s about ours too. What do we do when our faith feels shaken and life doesn’t match our expectations?
What Does the Bible Say About Boldness and Humility?
John the Baptist was bold. He called out sin and preached repentance with fearless conviction. Yet he was also profoundly humble, knowing his role wasn’t to shine, but to point others to Jesus. He said, “He must become greater, and I must become less” (John 3:30).
That’s a picture of real spiritual strength that combines bold truth with humility and surrender. Scripture is clear: true greatness in the Kingdom of God doesn’t come from status, but from selflessness (Philippians 2:3-4).
What Are You Seeking in Your Spiritual Life?
Jesus asked the crowd, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see?” (Luke 7:24). This question challenges us even today. Are we searching for comfort, approval, or inspiration? Or are we truly seeking Christ and the transforming power of the Gospel?
The Christian life isn’t about appearances. It’s about the miraculous work of Jesus: the blind seeing, the lame walking, the broken restored, and the good news preached to the poor. Are we willing to pursue that kind of gritty, grace-filled reality?
How Can I Live Out My Faith Daily?
John’s message was practical. When people asked, “What should we do?” he told them: share what you have, be honest, and treat others with integrity (Luke 3:10-14). These instructions are timeless. Living out your faith doesn’t require perfection. It requires obedience and authenticity.
Ask yourself: Am I making space for God’s plan, or clinging to my own? Am I letting my emotions lead, or basing my choices on what is good, right, and true?
Can I Trust God When Life Feels Uncertain?
Absolutely. Even when doubts arise and feelings waver, God’s love remains constant. You don’t have to have it all figured out. Keep coming back to the Father. He will never fail you.
